blog posting #5

I think the idea of having an online resume is interesting. If I ever have business cards, I might put the link to my weebly. I could also add the weebly to my gmail signature.
I think the idea of using angry birds in a math class is interesting. If I teach math, I might use that strategy.

  1. Hi, Mr. Shap. Absolutely, you can link to your Weebly in the two places you suggest. Good ideas!

Was this a busy week for you? When you have a chance, come back and flesh this out some more. What made the portfolio or Angry Birds in math interesting, for example?

  2. Mr. Shap, what did you like about the weebly? I find that it could be a useful tool for high schoolers, perhaps in a 12th grade class (as students are entering work world or college). What do you think about using games in English classes? It seems a little easier to find math games and I am curious as to what games we could use in English classes.

  3. That's a great idea to connect your weebly to a business card! I never thought of doing that - possibly because I've never had a business card. Someday! What do you think about the Angry Birds? Are there any games or sites that you would use to create the same type of positive influence in a language classroom rather than a math classroom?

  4. Elegant, short, simple. I like this. I think that while I personally had my problems with Weebly initially, after having Kristin explain it more thoroughly, this could be a great idea. Prospective bosses could check out some of your exploits and scholastic endeavors before they even got to interview you. Also, it could help to serve as a portfolio for your work if you were doing some really cutting edge things. I still am not sure whether this is really professional, but I think with the right design and attempts, it could really be beneficial. I am interested to know what you thought about the angry birds exercise and how you think you could utilize a similar lesson plan?

  6. I think that you can also use weebly or a site like it as a way for you to connect with students and parents outside of the classroom. Parents can learn about your creditials, keep up with what is going on, ad feel that they have better connection with you. Building these relationships can be useful as you may need parent help with a student and so as a way to get to know your students and their home life better.
